Chris Tanev has signed a four-year deal with a cap hit of 4.5 million dollars per season. Tanev is a 30-year-old right-shot defenseman that can play two-way hockey. Additionally, Tanev registered two goals, 18 assists for 20 points in 69 games last season. Calgary is far from done this season as the Flames will make some changes and most likely still sign at least one more defenseman.

At six-foot-two, Tanev will add some size to Calgary’s backend and make them a tougher team to play against in the playoffs. Tanev was a fan favorite in Vancouver and will look to win over the Flames faithful next season. Do Flames fans like your new defenseman? Let us know.
