The Hurricanes have found their next winger. They have announced they have signed former Rangers forward Jesper Fast to a three-year deal worth an average of $2 million a season. Fast is a speedy and grit styled player that can bring many elements to an already skilled and young Hurricanes lineup. Fast had 12 goals and 17 assists last season for the Rangers and is up to a total of 55 goals and 92 assists in his 6 full seasons in the Rangers’ lineup.

What will the Hurricanes get with a player like Fast? He has a nice amount of speed, some good hands, and can play the penalty kill if needed. He may slot well in the top-six, but don’t be surprised is he is slotted on the third line. Is this a good signing for the Canes? At two million a year, I say it’s a low risk, high reward signing.
