The Vancouver Canucks have signed forward Jake Virtanen to a two year deal with a 2.55 AAV. With the departure of Tyler Toffoli, Virtanen will look to secure a top-six role with the Canucks next season. Virtanen avoided arbitration, where he was likely to get more money, and chooses to help his team in their pursuit of a Stanley Cup.

The six-foot-one 226 lb right-wing is just 24-years-old and is coming off a season with 18 goals, 18 assists, for 36 points in 69 games. The former sixth overall pick could find himself skating on the first line next to the young superstar Elias Pettersson. Virtanen uses size and speed to create scoring chances and will look to take the next step in his career as an important piece to an NHL franchise.
